About Mayor Lois Salter
Berkeley Lake’s mayor serves as:
- The chief executive officer of the city
- The official spokesperson for the city
- The chief advocate of policy
- The presiding officer at council meetings
The mayor is also responsible for the efficient and orderly administration of city business and for preparation and submission of annual operating and capital budgets to council.
The mayor votes only in the case of a tie among council members. The mayor may choose to veto an ordinance. Four council votes are required to override a mayoral veto. The mayor is elected to a four-year term.
