Speed & Safety Study

Because there was a perception that Lakeshore Drive was a dangerous street from a traffic safety perspective, the city contracted with StreetSmarts to perform a Speed and Safety Study in 2006. The study was completed and the final product was presented to the city in March of 2007.

The results of the study indicated that Lakeshore Drive did not experience the level of speeding that was previously perceived but that the major traffic safety issues existed on Berkeley Lake Road. Since the major problems were on county roads, the mayor used the study in lobbying the county to implement recommended changes.
